Terri Peak is a great workout and altitude trainer in the Perris Lake SRA. Most of the elevation you gain occurs in a little over three-quarters of a mile, so the trail is incredibly steep in sections. While you won’t be acclimatizing to alpine oxygen at two thousand feet above sea level, the gain will make your body accustomed to the demands of higher altitude hiking. There are several smaller off-shoots that all meet up with the main trail; many are cut switchbacks or deer paths that gradually appear as the season gets drier and much of the thicker foliage dies away. The trail is well marked and easy to follow, though not heavily traveled.
