简介

This short, easy uphill climb’s chief advantage is that it allows hikers to savor the soaring cliffs and rock climbers perched on them or dancing their way to the top across the valley. The trail provides views of the magnificent rock garden made of grayish quartzite rock that started off as eroded sand 1.6 billion years ago. The reddish Fountain Formation rocks were compacted into sandstone 300 million years ago and are the same formation and from the same era as Boulder’s Flatirons and the Red Rocks amphitheater. The Lyons Formation sandstone rocks are the youngsters of the canyon at 240 million years old. These silent monuments give you a new perspective on the precious, brief span of a human’s life and the necessity of savoring every moment. Combining this hike with the longer Rattlesnake Gulch Trail is a very doable adventure.
