简介

New York City’s third largest park, Van Cortlandt offers 1146 acres to explore in the heart of northwest Bronx. Originally settled by the Weckquaesgeek Indians, the land was sold in 1639 to the Dutch West India Trading Company and later owned by the Van Cortlandt family. The Cityo f New York purchased the park in 1888. Today, Van Cortlandt Park offers canines and humans miles of trails, valleys, forests, and wetlands to enjoy. If you’re in the mood for an easy, scenic hike close to Manhattan, then Van Cortlandt is the destination for you.
