简介

Highland Park was Monroe County’s first public park, dedicated in 1890 to the children of Rochester. The park began as a dream of two nurserymen, George Ellwanger and Patrick Barry who donated 20 acres of their nursery grounds to the city. Famous for its collections of magnolia, horse chestnut, barberry, Japanese maple, rhododendron, and lilac (more than 1,200), Highland Park is one of the oldest public arboretums or “tree gardens” in the United States. Surface: Paved and mowed-grass paths.
