简介

Great Smoky Mountains is the country’s most popular national park. The distinction is more than proximity to nearby urban areas. This United Nations–designated International Biosphere Reserve is temperate rain forest that’s world-class lush. This is one of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth, with large tracts of virgin timber reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest. It’s one of the largest intact natural areas in the East. Descriptions of the following trails are included: the Caldwell Fork Trail, Boogerman Trail, McKee Branch Trail, Hemphill Bald Trail, Rough Fork Trail, Mount Sterling Trail, Long Bunk Trail, Mount Sterling Ridge Trail, Little Cataloochee Trail, Pretty Hollow Gap Trail, Palmer Creek Trail, Baxter Creek Trail, Big Creek Trail and Swallow Falls Trail; and trails near Ferguson Cabin in the Purchase Knob area.
