简介

With the closing of military bases all over the West Coast in the 1990s, San Francisco’s Presidio, one of the oldest, dating back to 1776, became yours to wander. This hike takes you through military and social history, through scenic forests and across green lawns, and along the path of lovers. Besides some interesting history and ecology, the trail covers most stages of a relationship: strolling down Lovers’ Lane, passing a “proven” well of fertility, reaching Inspiration Point, cruising by the chapel, and walking by the old officers’ family homes, ending with the post hospital, where babes were born and loved ones said good-bye. As a bonus, there’s a bowling alley near the start of the hike, where you can play a game with your date after your hike. Trails Surface: Single- and doubletrack dirt trail and paved pathways.
