Open year-round, dawn to dusk, the Middlesex Fells Reservation’s 2060 acres offer a welcome retreat for city dwellers. Fells is the Saxon word for rocky, hilly tracts of land, and it is an appropriate name for this scenic area. Rich in local history, the Middlesex Fells was once a favored area for timber, granite quarrying, and the ice industry. A variety of trails crisscross the reservation today, offering hiking opportunities for young dogs and old.
