简介
Louis Agassiz (1807–1873), professor of natural history at Harvard University, used Agassiz Rock to support his theory, which was controversial at the time, of glacial movement. This reservation provides an excellent example of how the great ice sheets of the ice ages shaped the terrain by grinding down mountains, carving valleys, and leaving huge boulders, like the two found by Agassiz, in their wake. Today you can view these boulders, known as glacial erratics (because of the haphazard way in which they were deposited), by taking a short forty-minute walk around the property.
