From the Joshua trees, cholla cactus, and yuccas to the outrageous granite formations along Teutonia’s main ridge, the scenery will bring calm and beauty to the most unsettled souls. For those not able or willing to make the difficult climb up the final feet to Teutonia Peak, the lower rock formations are still worthwhile—and a great place to camp if you’re backpacking. Plus, the Joshua tree forest at Cima Dome in Mojave National Preserve is the largest and densest in the world, and that alone is reason enough to visit. Vehicle: Passenger car.
