简介

A hike on the rolling hills of Delaware’s piedmont through meadows, old fields, and impressive woodlands. One of several sections of White Clay Creek State Park, the Walter S. Carpenter Recreation Area lies to the west of White Clay Creek’s floodplain, its gently rolling hills rising up from the valley. Like the other small parcels of the preserve, the landscape is a mixture of old fields, thickets of honeysuckle and blackberries, saplings, and stream-laced woodlands with wonderful groves of beech and tulip trees. When you are finished hiking in the woods here, the preserve’s shady picnic area and disc golf course make this area a great place for an all-day family outing. Special considerations: Observe signs regarding pets; they are permitted in some areas of the park but must be kept on a leash.
